OUR HERITAGE IS MORE THAN OUR HISTORY IT IS THELEGACY WE LEAVE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS! |
A nation’s greatest asset is its people. Heritage Day reminds us to celebrate our diverse cultures, traditions and shared values while investing in the future of our children. By equipping learners with a quality education, we empower them to reach their full potential and build stronger, more prosperous communities. One of the most valuable subjects that unlocks opportunity and drives economic growth is Mathematics.
| IS PURE MATHS IMPORTANT FOR OUR CHILDREN’S FUTURE? |
In South Africa, Mathematics has become a very controversial subject. Often, we hear things like “Maths is not an important subject” or “How will knowing how to calculate the size of an angle help me to survive in life?”
On the surface, it seems totally logical. Truly, how on earth knowing how to calculate the size of an angle will help someone survive, earn an income and become the best at what they do? Many parents and children will say that they do not see the link between these two and this is not their fault.
| WHAT NONE OF US WERE EVER TAUGHT AT SCHOOL |
What teachers do not tell us at school is this: It is not the correct calculations of angles that will make the difference in your life and your standard of living. It is the skills and abilities that your child develops in critical thinking and problem solving while they learn and apply the data on angles as well as other Mathematical concepts that matters. These skills are what our children truly need to succeed. Especially, in the current economic environment.
These skills are vital to our children’s survival, and to the economic survival of South Africa, as well as to your company which is composed of many individuals who went through the educational system.

The My Maths Buddy Community Project has been transforming Maths education for the past 13 years, empowering learners to understand the language of Maths and achieve greater success in the classroom.
As South Africa celebrates Heritage Month, we proudly launch our 2026 Heritage Month Drive under the theme “Rooted in Heritage. Rising in Maths.” This initiative celebrates our nation’s rich diversity while investing in the future of our children through quality Maths education.
Throughout the year, schools across South Africa apply to participate in the My Maths Buddy Programme. Each year, we select 3–4 schools that demonstrate the greatest enthusiasm and commitment to becoming part of the My Maths Buddy movement. Together with our valued partners, we raise funds to support learners and teachers, giving them the resources and support they need to succeed.
This year, we are proud to present the following schools as part of our 2026 Heritage Day Drive:

What began as a shared vision to transform Maths education became a powerful celebration of partnership, hope and opportunity that brought together learners, teachers, partner companies and the My Maths Buddy Team for a truly unforgettable day. |

To sponsor 1 learner for a full year on the program R7,500.00 (including all materials, training, support, assessments, evaluation and monitoring and reporting). The My Maths Buddy Team successfully hosted an event at Zandspruit Primary School on the 31 July to celebrate the successful completion of our Nelson Mandela Month Drive. The event brought together learners, educators, school leadership and our valued company partners to celebrate the collective effort that made this initiative possible. We now look forward to achieving the same impact at our two remaining nominated schools. With your support, we can make it happen and continue changing lives through Maths education. See full blog to learn more about the event and discover how you can help us bring this vision to life. |
