The My Maths Buddy Team is excited to share that on Friday, 31 July 2026, we proudly celebrated the Nelson Mandela Month at Zandspruit Primary School!

What began as a shared vision to transform Maths education became a powerful celebration of partnership, hope and opportunity that brought together learners, teachers, partner companies and the My Maths Buddy Team for a truly unforgettable day. |
THANKS to the incredible generosity of Zibo Containers, Pragma, Lancet, AESSEAL/AESPUMP, Lewis Group and AUTO X, 40 new learners officially joined the My Maths Buddy Program, while 5 dedicated teachers received their teacher kits which help them continue to inspire young minds through the My Maths Buddy extramural Club activities. |

This was far more than just an event it was a testament to what is possible when corprates, schools and communities unite. Together, we celebrated unity, new opportunities and hope for brighter futures! |

From the moment our corporate partners arrived, there was a sense of excitement in the air. After a warm welcome and refreshments, guests had the opportunity to experience firsthand the impact of their support by meeting the learners, teachers and the My Maths Buddy Team. |

The My Maths Buddy Program’s Senior Project Consultant, Mr. Paul Sondergaard coordinated the event and opened by honoring the outstanding commitment of Zandspruit Primary School and its leadership. Special recognition certificate was presented to the school acknowledging their dedication to Maths education at their school. |

| Following Mr Nxumalo’s address, Ms Palesa Rafube, the Maths teacher and the My Maths Buddy Club leader, shared a deeply personal and inspiring message. She reflected on how fortunate today’s learners are to have access to a programs like My Maths Buddy, expressing that had such opportunities existed when she was a learner, many from her generation may have achieved even greater success. She encouraged every learner to embrace the program wholeheartedly, work diligently and never take the opportunity for granted. Most importantly, she assured them that they would not walk the journey alone she remains committed to supporting and motivating them every step of the way. |

| Our corporate partners were equally celebrated for choosing to invest in South Africa’s future. Representatives from Lancet and Pragma shared heartfelt words of encouragement, reminding learners that their dreams are achievable through determination, hard work and education. |

One of the most memorable moments of the day was honoring the 60 learners who already begun the program earlier this year and welcoming the 40 newly supported learners onto the My Maths Buddy program. Each new learner proudly received their My Maths Buddy Learner Kit and each learner on a program receiving a special participation certificate. All children were delighted to also receive a goodie bag. |

Each group of learners stood proudly to recite the My Maths Buddy Pledge, committing themselves to work hard, believe in their potential and never give up on their dreams. The celebration concluded with the presentation of special gift bags from My Maths Buddy and Lancet, followed by moments of laughter, conversation and photographs that perfectly captured the spirit of Nelson Mandela Month service, partnership and hope. |
